Eric Church #TBT and his return to Mid-South- Cindy D.
It was winter of 2006 and our station WMC 79 (now ESPN790) was going country and the big boss sent the sales manager and I to Nashville for a country music convention (CRS- Country Radio Seminars). At one of the luncheons, they gave us an Eric Church CD and he played while we ate our baked chicken and green bean casserole. On the drive home we listened to our new Eric Church CD and loved EVERY SINGLE SONG. In the months and years following, we saw his tour around the Mid-South when he played at the Walmart in Southaven, MS, the outside stage at The Opry, Minglewood Hall, Gibson Showcase Lounge, Oxford, MS, B.B. Kings Blues Hall on Beale (after he was fired from the Rascal Flatts Tour), Handy Park and Landers Center and Snowden Grove. At first, the audience was about around 20, then 50, then 300, then 500, 5000 and finally, on Halloween night 2014 at FedExForum -- a sold out crowd. My heart swells with pride knowing the magic we saw in him from the very beginning, 11 years ago. 2016 marked the 10th anniversary of "Sinners Like Me" and the Eric Church website has 10th anniversary merch available to commemorate this wild ride. This weekend Eric Church brings the Holdin My Own tour to Landers Center in Southaven, MS to a nearly sold out crowd (only a few single seats remaining). Congrats to Eric Church, his band, management, writers, fans and the #ChurchChoir that's been with him from the start! You are always #1 in our heart! I'm so lucky to get to play his songs on the radio everyday on 94.1TheWolf! ~Cindy D.
